Let's Go Running, an event taking place in downtown Rijeka that outgrew its local confines a long time ago, will be back again come early spring. The expression "Homo si teć" (Let's go running) used to mystify anyone unfamiliar with the peculiar Chakavian dialect, but considering its current merit as the largest street sporting event in Croatia, language is no longer a barrier. The Let's Go Running Sports and Recreation Festival has been held continuously since 1998 and this year it will run from Saturday, 30 March, to Sunday, 14 April, when the largest street race in Croatia is scheduled. More than 17,000 residents of Rijeka participate in the race, including recreational runners, children, university students, professional track and field and other athletes. This year's 23rd Let's Go Running festival begins with a race up the Trsat stairway (539 stairs) from downtown Rijeka to Trsat. It then resumes with a race on the popular Molo Longo promenade, with the grand finale scheduled for 14 April when the 18th Rijeka Half Marathon, the 4th Rijeka Marathon, the relay race, the Desetka powered by Heineken, the dm kid's race, the Milka Milinović memorial race (ex-Hendi Cup) and the Let's Go Running citizens' race are all on the bill. The Sports and Recreation Festival offers eventful programmes that will showcase recreational sports clubs and associations. A presentation of recreational sports associations of Primorje - Gorski Kotar County and a sales and promotional trade show will take place at Karolina Riječka pier on 13 April from 10 am.
