Thousand Islands Race
For the sixth year in a row, the Sailing Club of Rijeka and the Porto Montenegro Yacht Club will organize the Thousand Islands Race on a course that stretches from Rijeka to Tivat and meanders between more than 1000 Adriatic islands.
The race consists of two stages and the participants may choose to sail in either the first stage, the second stage or both, with their overall time being taken into account.
The first stage begins on 23 September in Rijeka, after which the fleet will pass the islands of Unija, Susak, Premuda, Dugi Otok, Kornat, Vis, Lastovo and Sveti Andrija on the right and finish the race in the Porto Montenegro marina in Tivat. Although the numerous racers will have to tackle the technical challenges of navigating among the myriad islands and channels of the Croatian coast and Kotor Bay, they will also be rewarded with the gorgeous scenery that they will encounter on the way. After presenting the awards to the winners of the first stage in Porto Montenegro on Wednesday, 26 September, the fleet will begin the second stage on 27 September by taking the same course back to Rijeka. The Hungarian Wild Joe has held the record for both stages since 2015. This one-of-a-kind sailing event ends with the awards ceremony on Sunday, 30 September in Rijeka.
